BARRE, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Foodbank has a new chief operations officer.

The Barre-based Foodbank says Alex Bornstein has years of experience in goods and services procurement and management.

Bornstein comes to the Foodbank from the International Rescue Committee, Inc., an international nonprofit that helps respond to humanitarian crises across the world, where he worked for a decade as the chief supply chain officer.

Foodbank CEO John Sayles says Bornstein, of Dorset, will enhance the organization’s efforts to ensure no one in Vermont goes hungry.

The foodbank helps feed as many as 86,000 Vermonters through a network of 270 food shelves, meals sites, senior centers, shelters, after-school programs.
