KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Keep Knoxville Beautiful is bringing beautification mobs to the city this spring.

The Knoxville News Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1cr1rRK) reports the crews will focus on high-profile public areas in the city.

Keep Knoxville Beautiful is taking nominations for areas that need work such as routine maintenance, landscaping or general cleaning. The organization is also seeking volunteers for the effort.

Organization Director Allison Teeters says she hopes the beautification mobs can help make Knoxville a better place for residents and visitors.

“From an economic standpoint, people are more likely to visit an area that looks nicer,” Teeters said. “Also, people are less likely to litter at places that look beautiful than somewhere that already has a lot of trash on the ground.”

She says depending on funding, the hope is to have up to five beautification mobs a year.

“We want people to have a good first impression of Knoxville, and live in a more beautiful community” Teeters said.

Locations can be proposed by emailing Teeters at info@keepknoxvillebeautiful.org.

Volunteers can sign up or donate funds at https://www.keepknoxvillebeautiful.org .
