HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - The United Way of Southeast Mississippi must now find a new executive director after Dan Kibodeaux’s abrupt resignation.

United Way board president Susan Slaughter tells The Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/1fKd94g ) she will she soon convene a search committee to select first an interim director and then a permanent one.

The 62-year-old Kibodeaux, who submitted his immediate resignation to Slaughter on Tuesday, explained his decision by stating he wishes to spend more time at home with his family.

He says he believes now is the right time to resign because of the need to find a director before the annual fundraising campaign kicks into gear for its fall starting date.
