SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A former Sioux Falls day care provider has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor child neglect in the case of an infant who died in her home.

Four-month-old Meredith Ulmer died on June 30, 2011. Authorities say 53-year-old provider Constance Edwards had taken nine children to a water park that day and left 15 others including Ulmer in the care of two teenage girls.

Edwards also pleaded guilty to lying to police about how many children she had in her care. The number was more than allowed by the city.

She faces up to 10 days in jail, a $2,000 fine and a ban on operating a day care under terms of her plea agreement with prosecutors that drops a felony child abuse charge.
