PLAISTOW, N.H. (AP) - An engineering firm hired to study the possibility of commuter rail coming into southern New Hampshire has come up with 11 potential sites for layover and passenger stations.

Many of sites are being considered in the Plaistow area.

The Eagle Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/O158C3) the New Hampshire Department of Transportation directed HDR Engineering to look at all possible sites north of the existing Haverhill, Mass., station up to the Newton line.

The firm is going to do an environmental assessment of the sites as part of the study, which is expected to be done by the end of the year. The study also would include estimates of the operating costs and forecast ridership.
