PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The ice skating season at Providence’s downtown rink is being extended by a week.

The city announced that the rink will remain open through March 23. That’s one week later than originally scheduled.

From March 17 to March 21, the rink will have revised weekday hours, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. On March 21 and March 22, it will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Officials say the rink will be used during the offseason for a variety of events, including festivals and concerts. It can also be rented out for private events.

This is the 15th season the rink has been open.
