ST. LOUIS (AP) - A barge worker is recovering after falling into the Mississippi River near St. Louis.

KTVI-TV (https://bit.ly/1km5xI8 ) reports that the accident happened about 1:30 a.m. Thursday near the St. Louis suburb of Granite City, Illinois, at a terminal where barges are loaded.

A tugboat was able to rescue the man soon after he fell into the river. He was taken to a hospital after complaining of pain in his arm and back, but is expected to recover.
