ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A road linking the community of Chitina to Wrangell-St. Elias National Park will be temporarily closed next week to repair damage from a landslide.

KTUU reports (https://is.gd/hifkoG) the state will close McCarthy Road at Mile 0.4 Monday morning. It’s scheduled to reopen to small vehicles Tuesday and all vehicles on Wednesday.

State transportation officials say the road is now down to one lane and can only be used by small vehicles after an embankment slide Sunday.

Chitina, with a population of about 130 people, is located about 65 miles southeast of Glennallen.
