PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Painter Alex Katz will speak at a Portland hotel in June at an event hosted by the Portland Museum of Art.

Katz, who divides his time between New York City and Lincolnville, Maine, will speak at the Westin Portland Harborview Hotel on June 11 at 6 p.m.

Katz has made a connection to Maine since he received a scholarship to attend the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1949. He was awarded the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship for Painting in 1972 and was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1988.

Tickets for the event go on sale Friday and are $10 for museum members and $25 for the general public. They are available by calling 207-775-6148.
