AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Fourteen Maine communities are receiving grants designed to help cities and towns attract private investment.

Among the municipalities benefiting from the federally-funded Community Grant Block Program is Brunswick. The Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority is receiving $250,000 to transform a hanger into a tech business accelerator, which is expected to create 25 jobs.

In New Canada, Herbert Construction is receiving $90,000 to expand its business and create three jobs.

Other awardees include Millennium Maine in Eastport, which will get $100,000 to train staff to work on a commercial boat landing facility.

Fort Kent will also receive $150,000 to make improvements to the facade of downtown buildings that were damaged by floods.
