NEW YORK (AP) - Police are investigating the shooting death of a man outside an elementary school in the Bronx.

Police say a 45-year-old man was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head just before 9 a.m. Wednesday outside P.S. 112 on East 229th Street.

NYPD Deputy Inspector Ruel Stephenson says the gunman had exited a vehicle and fired at the victim before fleeing. He said the shooting didn’t appear to have any connection to the school.

Police say the victim, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There have been no arrests.
