KINCHELOE, Mich. (AP) - Chippewa County International Airport in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is getting nearly $3.4 million for runway rehabilitation work.

U.S. Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin of Michigan on Thursday announced the grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Plans call for replacing the cement surface on the main runway with asphalt. Stabenow and Levin say the work will boost business activity and tourism.
