Goodyear had a 4.8 percent increase for a population total of nearly 73,000.

Gilbert’s population climbed 4 percent to almost 230,000 residents.

By population increase, Phoenix grew by nearly 25,000 and now has more than 1.5 million residents.

The Census Bureau also says 14 cities joined the 50,000-plus population club including Casa Grande, Arizona.
