WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. Park Police say two people have been taken to an area hospital after a car overturned and landed upside down in Rock Creek.

The car was traveling on southbound Rock Creek Parkway early Thursday when police say it crossed into northbound lanes and went into the creek.

Police say a woman inside the car was taken to a hospital in serious condition. A man was also taken to a hospital, but police did not have details about his condition.

Rock Creek Parkway is closed in both directions at P Street northwest and is expected to remain closed through the morning rush hour.
