OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) - Tannery took the lead around the far turn and held off Overheard in the closing strides to win by a head in the $75,000 Miss Liberty Stakes at Monmouth Park on Monday.

Trained by Alan Goldberg and ridden by Julian Pimentel, the 5-year-old mare ran the mile and a sixteenth over a firm turf course in 1:43 4/5 and returned $5.60, $2.80 and $2.40. The win boosted her career earnings to $820,334.

Overheard paid $3 and $2.40, while Lonesome Town was a head back in third and returned $3.
