WESTERN, N.Y. (AP) - Police say divers will be back in a central New York lake where a 32-year-old man disappeared while trying to a save a teenage boy who had trouble staying afloat while swimming.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office tells local media that five people were aboard the boat late Monday afternoon during an outing on Delta Lake, just north of Rome, New York.

A 14-year-old boy went swimming off the back of the boat and had difficulty in the cold water. Deputies say William Cook of Camden, New York jumped in but also had trouble. He went under and didn’t resurface.

Another boater rescued the teenager. Cook and the boy weren’t wearing life jackets.

A search by boat and helicopter failed to turn up any sign of Cook. The search will resume Tuesday.
