SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Some residents of downtown Sioux Falls are using a $1,300 city grant to set up stations with bags and cans for pet waste.

KELO-TV reports (https://bit.ly/RFjObw ) that the Downtown Sioux Falls Residents Association plans to have the pet waste stations in five locations by the end of August.

A recent economic development study determined there are about 2,200 residents in the downtown area. Association and city officials say they expect that number to grow - and that means more pets, as well.

Resident Cindy Palleschi has two dogs and says she looks forward to having the stations. She says hopefully it will cut down on people not picking up after their animals.
