DU QUOIN, Ill. (AP) - The fledging manager of the Illinois state fair in southern Illinois’ Du Quoin (doo-KOYN’) is back on the job after being placed on leave pending a state investigation that apparently continues.

Illinois Department of Agriculture spokesman Jeff Squibb confirms Shannon Woodworth’s return to work this week. Squibb wouldn’t elaborate, saying only that the matter that led to Woodworth’s leave remains under review.

Woodworth’s attorney, Mark Kochan of Herrin, has said his 47-year-old client from West Frankfort has been directed not to discuss the matter publicly.

Woodworth was named the state fair’s manager in February and earns $71,000 a year.
