LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) - Authorities are naming a 13-year-old girl who was crossing a set of train tracks with a friend when she was hit and killed by a commuter train in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Carrie Kimball Monahan, of the Essex District Attorney’s office, said on Saturday that Jenaira Fuentes of Lawrence was the victim of the accident that occurred Friday afternoon. The girls were cutting between two cars of a stationary train on one set of tracks and failed to see the oncoming train, which was en route to Haverhill.

The girl was taken to Lawrence General where she died. No other details were released. The victim’s friend wasn’t injured.

The accident disrupted service for commuter lines and the Amtrak Downeaster for several hours.
