SUTCLIFFE, Nev. (AP) - Two fishermen were rescued Saturday after their canoe capsized in Pyramid Lake, about 30 miles north of Reno.

They were taken to a local hospital, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

Washoe County sheriff’s deputies say the canoe capsized late Saturday morning in choppy water several miles south of Sutcliffe on the desert lake’s west shore.

The first boater was located about a mile off shore still clinging to the canoe, while the second was found a short time later.

Two volunteer swimmers from the sheriff’s search and rescue team dropped into the water to hoist the fishermen into a helicopter.
