NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Twenty-five members of the North Charleston Fire Department are being promoted.

During ceremonies on Saturday in South Carolina’s third-largest city, firefighters are being promoted to various ranks including engineer, captain, battalion chief and division chief.

During the ceremony, firefighters will also be recognized for life-saving actions while awards for years of service will also be bestowed.

Fire officials say it’s the largest number of promotions in the department this year. The department has 250 employees.
