PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 76-year-year-old widow whose body was found inside her suburban New York home had been stabbed.

Westchester County Police Commissioner George Longworth told a news conference Saturday that Linda Falkoff had been dead at least five days when she was found Thursday.

The Journal News reported (https://lohud.us/1zUtDY4 ) that a mail carrier alerted police to a pile of mail and newspapers outside her door. Longworth said an officer entered the home through an unlocked front door, discovering Falkoff’s body. He did not describe where the body was found, except to say it was not in the bedroom.

Westchester officials announced earlier Saturday that the medical examiner’s office had ruled the death a homicide. They asked that anyone with information about her death contact police or email [email protected]
