COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) - The deadline has arrived for people who would like to submit entries for the Vermont Writers’ Prize.

Saturday is the deadline to enter the competition sponsored by Green Mountain Power and Vermont Magazine.

GMP spokeswoman Dorothy Schure says people involved in the competition are amazed by the stories, poems and essays that show how Vermonters feel about the state.

The Vermont Writers’ Prize was created in honor of Ralph Nading Hill, who published numerous books and magazine articles about Vermont. He was a long-time member of Green Mountain Power’s board of directors.

Submissions must be unpublished entries fewer than 1,500 words about “Vermont - Its People, the Place, Its History or Its Values.”
