DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Des Moines police are investigating the death of a 5-year-old girl.

Police tell Des Moines television station KCCI (https://bit.ly/1wSq9As ) that the girl was found dead Oct. 7 inside a downtown apartment littered with illegal drugs.

Des Moines Police spokesman Sgt. Jason Halifax says the girl showed no signs of trauma and had no known pre-existing conditions that would lead to her death.

A police report shows $1,500 in marijuana, cocaine, morphine and ecstasy tablets were found inside the apartment. Police said they also found counterfeit cash and measuring containers with cocaine residue.

Police are waiting for the toxicology reports to determine the girl’s cause of death.
