ATLANTA (AP) - Forecasters are reporting snow flurries in parts of northern Georgia as an early winter chill blows through the state this weekend.

The National Weather Service said light snow and flurries were being reported north of Atlanta to the Tennessee state line early Saturday, though the only accumulation forecast was in the mountains of northeast Georgia.

Chilly winds gusting up to 40 mph were expected to keep temperatures low across the state Saturday, with high temperatures below 50 degrees forecast for Atlanta and most of north Georgia. South and middle Georgia were expecting highs in the mid-50s.

A freeze watch was issued for Saturday night into early Sunday morning. The watch covers north and most of central Georgia. Freezing temperatures Saturday night could damage or kill vegetation.
