FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - A Sebastian County Circuit judge says his order on two lawsuits challenging annexation proposals by the city of Greenwood mean all eight of the proposals must be stricken from the ballot.

The Times Record reports (https://bit.ly/1G6MPT1 ) that Judge Michael Fitzhugh said Friday his Oct. 8 order includes all eight questions.

Fitzhugh found that Greenwood City Attorney Mike Hamby violated the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act by talking individually with four City Council members about the proposals before the six-member council voted in August to split them into eight separate questions.

Two landowners then filed the lawsuits that led to Fitzhugh’s ruling.

The city appealed to the state Supreme Court, but the court - without comment- denied the city’s request to stay the order and for an expedited review.
