ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Families with too much Halloween candy may want to pay a visit to dentists who are collecting excess treats to support overseas troops.

Stanley Dentistry in Cary is paying $1 per pound for candy on Monday afternoon, while Gladwell Orthodontics in Wake Forest is accepting candy through Thursday. Asheville Pediatric Dentistry is holding its annual Loot for Troops: Halloween Candy Buy-Back at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday

All of the practices are donating the candy for care packages for overseas troops.

People can also mail candy directly to Operation Gratitude (www.operationgratitude.com ) or find other dentists who are buying back candy at (www.halloweencandybuyback.com ).
