BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Six new Republican election judges are getting special training for Tuesday’s election following complaints that county officials picked too many Democrats to rule on mail-in ballots.

More than 200 people have already been trained for various election-related positions. The new Republican election judges were added after county GOP Chairwoman Ellyn Hilliard raised concerns about the lack of diversity.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera (https://tinyurl.com/mfvnwwv ), Republicans say state law requires that the ranks of election judges be equally split between Democrats and Republicans appointed by the party chair in their county.

Boulder County officials say they did all they could to recruit Republicans to serve as election judges, but very few volunteered.
