NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - New Castle County police say five women were injured when a van and a pickup truck collided in New Castle on Saturday.

Police say just before 2:30 p.m. paramedics were dispatched to Kennett Pike and Burnt Mill Road in Hockessin, where they found the driver of a sedan trapped inside the damaged vehicle. Police say it took roughly 26 minutes to extract the driver, who along with her passenger was airlifted to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries. Three other women suffered injuries in the wreck and were taken to Christiana Hospital by ambulance.

Police did not release any further details.
