PARK CITY, Utah (AP) - A 39-year-old man who eluded authorities for years in Mexico has been convicted of sexually abusing his young relative in the Park City area.

Summit County officials say a jury on Friday found Salvador Chacon-Rivero guilty of two counts of forcible sexual abuse. He’s scheduled for sentencing on Dec. 22.

Authorities say Chacon-Rivero was charged in 2007 after a 14-year-old victim told police he’d abused her since she was 6 years old.

They weren’t able to find Chacon-Rivero because he had returned to Mexico, but got a warrant for his arrest.

He was arrested in 2011 in Colorado, but authorities say he fled to Mexico before his court appearance.

He was arrested in May when authorities say he tried to cross from Mexico back into the U.S.
