WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. (AP) - West Liberty University Campus Police will train local businesses on how to handle a violent intruder.

It’s called ALICE training. ALICE is an acronym for alert, lockdown, inform, counter and evacuate. The method is being adopted by school systems, universities, hospitals and businesses nationwide.

West Liberty Associate Dean of Students Services Marcella Snyder says campus police already have completed or scheduled training for more than 500 students and staff. Now they’re opening the training to businesses, with five sessions planned in November and December. The first is set for Saturday morning at WLU’s Highlands Center.
