ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage School District officials are asking for comments from the public and staff on the school calendar proposed for the 2016-17 year.

The district also is looking for feedback on school year calendars beyond that.

It’s part of an effort by a committee made up of parents, university representatives, community members and school district staff. The committee’s goal is to develop a proposal for future calendars.

Officials say the committee considered numerous factors to best engage students.
