PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (AP) - State police are investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on U.S. Highway 61 north of Louisiana 73 in Ascension Parish.
Trooper Jared Sandifer says 27-year-old Cody B. Viator died in the crash early Wednesday morning.
Sandifer says Viator was southbound on Highway 61 when he ran off the road, struck a culvert and the car re-entered the roadway and began to flip.
Sandifer says Viator was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle.
He says Viator was pronounced dead at the scene.
