Police: Man sliced infant, threw her under van

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - Police say a Lancaster man sliced his five-week-old daughter’s face, placed her in a trash bag inside a backpack and threw it under a van in a hospital parking lot.

David William Sleets was jailed Tuesday on charges of attempted homicide, kidnapping and aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

LNP reports (https://bit.ly/10ZuJBP) the girl was airlifted to Hershey Medical Center. The newspaper says she’s recovering from surgery for deep face and neck wounds.

Court records did not list a lawyer for the 34-year-old Sleets.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 25.
