LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Jordan Jackson, the son of former Texas Tech standout Sheryl Swoopes, has signed to play at his mother’s alma mater.

Jackson, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound shooting guard, signed his letter of intent Wednesday to play for Red Raiders coach Tubby Smith.

He was born in Lubbock but has lived in Houston since he was a young child. Jackson will graduate this spring from St. Pius X High.

Other schools that made offers to Jackson included SMU, Houston, Rice, Tulsa and The Citadel.

Swoopes led the Lady Raiders to the national title in 1993 and still holds the Lady Raiders’ record for career scoring average at 24.9 points.

She is a three-time Olympic gold medalist, four-time WNBA champion and three-time league MVP.

Jackson’s father, Eric Jackson, was also a Texas Tech athlete.
