MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A new federal report shows the number of unemployed veterans in Minnesota has made a significant drop in the last year.
The U.S. Senate Joint Economic Committee’s report says veteran unemployment declined from 8.8 percent in 2013 to 5 percent this year. The number of unemployed post-9/11 veterans is still high, but also dropping, from 14.1 percent in 2013 to 8.8 percent this year.
U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar tells WCCO-TV (https://cbsloc.al/1GNvBKE ) that more work needs to be done to bolster veterans employment. She says part of the decline can be attributing to the improving economy, but also to programs such as Minnesota’s Yellow Ribbon which matches veterans with jobs.
