MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - The man sought in the death of a woman in Southern Oregon has been charged with murder.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jenny Hall said 42-year-old Wade Phillips surrendered Tuesday without a struggle. He is being held at the Jackson County Jail.

He was taken into custody after deputies found him hiding in the attic of the house where the woman was found dead.

The woman has been identified as 37-year-old Cynthia Michelle Phillips, who is Wade Phillips wife.

A SWAT team, search dogs and a helicopter had been involved in the search for Phillips after a report of shots fired and the woman found dead inside a Central Point home.

There was also no further word on a child in the home escaping injury.
