YARMOUTH, Mass. (AP) - Police say one person died when their car struck a tree and burst into flames in Yarmouth.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on Route 6A at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the car crossed the centerline before making impact and there was no evidence the driver tried to stop.

A passer-by pulled the driver from the vehicle before emergency personnel arrived. The driver, whose name has not been made public, was taken to Cape Cod Hospital and pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
