LINCOLNTON, N.C. (AP) - Police in Lincolnton have arrested a convenience store worker who they say took lottery tickets, activated them and then collected the winnings.

A statement from police says Christopher Lee Rathbone is charged with 32 counts of embezzlement. Lincolnton police picked up Rathbone on Wednesday in York County, South Carolina, where he was being held in the county jail.

Charges stemmed from an investigation by Lincolnton police and the N.C. Lottery Commission.

Rathbone is being held under $30,000 bond in the Lincoln County jail. It’s not known if he has an attorney, and he was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
