PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Officials have launched an on-site investigation into what caused a fire that destroyed a Pierre motel.

KCCR radio reports the investigation at the Capitol Inn and Suites started Thursday morning. Police Chief Dave Panzer says the team includes local, state and federal officials, including representatives of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

There’s no estimate on how long the investigation will take. Officials said earlier that foul play isn’t suspected.

No one was hurt in the fire that broke out Tuesday evening. Panzer says the death of a 69-year-old woman whose body was recovered from a room in the 80-unit facility was unrelated to the fire.

A community prayer service was scheduled Thursday night at a church to give thanks for the quick response and lack of injuries.
