CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Wildlife officials have launched a text message and phone application system to help Wyomingites report poaching.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department says people can report poaching by sending a text to 847411 (TIP411) with WGFD as the first word in the message, followed by information about the violation. Critical information to report includes suspect and vehicle descriptions, exact location of the poaching and other observations.

Android users can use the WGFD Tips app to report poaching.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1x1qNJw ) that last year, 451 tips were submitted through the department’s Stop Poaching Hotline, accounting for fines totaling more than $353,000. More than $15,000 in rewards was given to people who provided tips to Game and Fish.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted on the Game and Fish website at https://wgfd.wyo.gov or by calling 1-877-WGFD-TIP.
