HOWELL, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a gas station attendant was beaten and stabbed during a robbery in central New Jersey.

The attack occurred around 10:30 p.m. Saturday at a station on Route 9 in Howell Township.

Authorities say two men confronted the attendant, who was working alone at the time. The attendant was punched in the face and stabbed in the lower abdomen, though it was not clear which man committed the stabbing or what type of weapon was used.

The two men soon fled the scene on foot with undetermined proceeds.

Further details on the attendant’s injuries were not disclosed.
