WASHINGTON (AP) - Police have identified a teen who was killed in a car crash on the Capital Beltway this weekend in Montgomery County.

Maryland State Police say 17-year-old Dominik Pettey of Potomac, Maryland, was killed in an early morning crash Saturday. Pettey, who went by “Dom,” was a student at Gonzaga College High School in Washington.

Police say Pettey was one of five people inside a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate-495. That’s when a 24-year-old woman driving a Jeep drifted onto the shoulder and struck the disabled vehicle. Police say the driver of the Jeep appeared to be impaired. An investigation is ongoing.

Three other teens and an adult driver were taken to area hospitals after the crash.
