CHICAGO (AP) - High winds have damaged stained-glass windows at the Chicago church where U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush is pastor.

Rush tells the Chicago Sun-Times (https://bit.ly/10fFNKE) that a minimum of $125,000 in donations will be needed to secure the 85-year-old Tiffany-inspired windows at Beloved Community Christian Church.

On Sunday shattered glass and metal framework from the windows were scattered across pews at the church on the city’s South Side.

The church was built in 1949.

Rush says the windows have “inspired the downtrodden … to upward thought.”

Rush says there were no injuries. He says the windows were damaged Friday night or early Saturday.
