TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) - A central New Jersey man convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl has been sentenced to 15 years in state prison.

Ocean County prosecutors say 34-year-old Dennis Conover, of Manalapan, also must register as a sex offender under the sentence imposed Friday. Conover will be on lifetime parole supervision once he’s freed from prison.

Conover was convicted in May on aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment charges. His girlfriend, 30-year year-old Maryellen Deane, of Lakewood, was convicted on similar charges and also received a 15-year prison term.

Prosecutors say the assaults occurred on “multiple dates” during the summer of 2010. The victim, now 16, testified against both Deane and Conover at their trials.
