FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - American history as seen by photographers from the early 20th century through the present is on display at Nova Southeastern University’s Museum of Art-Fort Lauderdale.

The exhibit “American Scene Photography: Martin Z. Margulies Collection” includes over 190 images from the Miami-based art collector’s personal archive.

Margulies‘ collection includes work from 74 photographers, including Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, William Eggleston, Lee Friedlander, Alec Soth and Ed Ruscha.

Museum officials say the photographs on display illustrate the expansiveness of the U.S. landscape and the diversity of its people, cities, streets and homes. They say Margulies‘ collection also explores the important role these photographs played in social changes across America.

The exhibit opened Saturday and runs through March 22.
