It’s been a tough week for Wal-Mart.

Four days after it apologized and removed an online shopping category titled “Fat Girl Costumes,” the retail giant is now doing the same for a particular costume called the “Pashtun Papa.”

“Whether you’re making a serious political statement or staging a polical parody, this authentic-looking outfit is sure to fit the bill!” the store website’s description — complete with misspelling — said, according to the New York Post. The paper reported the passage was removed Friday.

“Our Afghan Pashtun Papa Costume features a long-sleeved beige top, matching beige pants, brown vest, Turban to match the vest and long grey beard. Nothing is sacred this Halloween. Shock your friends with this Islamic costume,” it said.

Wal-Mart removed the costume after receiving an onslaught of criticism online. The retailer said it was sold by a third-party vendor.

“We are deeply sorry that this costume is on our Web site, and we are pulling it down as soon as possible,” a Walmart spokeswoman said. “We are calling on all of the other retailers to pull it down as well.”

The retailer also responded to dozens of complaints on Twitter.

“We have suspended the vendor responsible for the ‘Pashtun Papa’ costume and are removing all of its items from our site,” Wal-Mart tweeted.

On Monday, the retailer had to go into damage control mode after online shoppers looking for plus-sized Halloween costumes were directed to a “Fat Girl Costumes” section.

Wal-Mart issued multiple apologies to people on Twitter and Facebook, but made no mention of who might be at fault for the blunt description.
