NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - New Castle County police say a woman from Bear who was assaulted while she was pregnant has died of her injuries.

Police announced Sunday that they had learned 21-year-old Paola Delgado-Polanco died on Wednesday, Oct. 29. She had been assaulted Oct. 19 and was found unconscious in a home. Police said there had been a physical domestic dispute.

Delgado-Polanco later gave birth to a baby girl who was listed in critical but stable condition.

Police say 24-year-old Fernando Flores of Bear was arrested and charged with assault on Oct. 19. Now the charges have been upgraded to manslaughter.
