PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona’s unemployment rate has dropped for a second straight month.

State Department of Administration economists said Thursday that the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for October was 6.8 percent, down from 6.9 percent in September.

The national unemployment rate also decreased one-tenth of a percentage point to 5.8 percent.

The department says eight of the 11 major sectors added jobs and two reported losses over the month.

Arizona added 28,500 nonfarm jobs in October. Losses were primarily in manufacturing and information, which shed a combined 1,100 jobs.

Trade, transportation and utilities added 6,200 jobs last month while professional and business services added 5,600 jobs.
