COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee Tech University officials say a 16-year-old has been arrested after allegedly bringing a gun onto the campus.

The school’s website said Thursday that the teenage boy did not enter any buildings and was apprehended by campus police.

The school says the teen did not resist and handed the gun over to police.

The search began after campus police received a report that someone with a handgun was seen in the Whitson-Hester School of Nursing parking area. Campus police, Cookeville police and the Putnam County Sheriff Department responded to the report.

The school says the suspect has no association with the university.
